Located just about 20 km to the east of Pune, Wagholi is the emerging blue chip area with opportunities in IT, ITES and manufacturing industries. The name Wagholi is derived from the temple of Wagheshwar (Lord of Tigers). It is also known as the home to the deep blue mineral - Cavansite that used to attract many tourists to this erstwhile quiet village. But now the reasons to visit Wagholi have changed from rare minerals and temples to technology and business.

The IT corridor of Wagholi and Kharadi will be one of the largest in the city comprising of almost 5 million square feet of commercial space for the tech industry. What's more, there is around 4 million square feet of area available for IT SEZs promising a grand plan for tomorrow. So far the development in Pune was concentrated on the western areas of Hinjewadi, Aundh, Balewadi and others. But these areas are nearing saturation causing the emergence of places like Wagholi.

Easy access

There are a number of factors that are in favour of Wagholi as a place to live and even work. Wagholi is just a short drive from the airport. It also provides access to industrial areas of Hadapsar, Manjri and even Chakan (which will also be home to Pune's new international airport).

Educational facilities

Additionally, Wagholi also has facilities to cater to students in and around the area thanks to the presence of proper educational facilities including the BCS Science College. At the school level as well, Wagholi boasts of some of the best including the Lexicon International School. This day school that also offers residential co-ed schooling is highly sought after by foreign residents in Pune and those who return to India after having stayed abroad.

For those who live it up

Entertainment in and around Wagholi is aplenty. Thanks to the location (barely 30 mins from the heart of the city), it is easy to catch a movie at one of the many new multiplexes in the city or eat at one some of the best places that Pune has to offer. Along the road to Wagholi (the Pune-Nagar Highway) are some new places including theme restaurants like Chokhi Dhani and Gaia that offer great food and even the perfect place to spend Saturday nights!
